Junior Jottings Number 16

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Wow, what a week we have had weather-wise. Last week it was snowing and this week brilliant sunshine with September next week and daylight saving only a month away. Everyone has certainly been talking about the weather. The children were very excited to see, feel and be literally immersed in the snow. There have been lots of discussions in classrooms about snow, ice and the water cycle. One of the youngest children thought it was Christmas and that Santa would be coming from the North Pole. Last week's snowfall will certainly be etched in the children's memory forever. Please enjoy the following stories some of our five and six year old's have written about the snow and the power cut that also occurred.

The Eastbourne Snow - by Room 3
I made a snowman and I made a snowball. It was fun and I throwed my snowball at my whole family.
By Fraser

I held the snow.
by Logan

I went to McDonalds but they had a powercut so I went to the pizza shop but I didn't like the pizza.
By George

I really liked it when the lights went off. It was cool. I really liked it. I had candles. My cat was there too.
By Ted

In the power cut I got a torch and we lit candles.
By Ella

I couldn't reach my dinner. I couldn't see it.
By Theo

I was throwing snowballs. It was fun. I throwed snowballs at my brother's hat.
By Ana

The Scary Power
I was playing my Playstation when all of a sudden my TV went off. I ran into the lounge and I asked mum if that was a power cut. I cuddled mum with a blanket then my power came back. I was happy.
By Ethan Room 4

The Nasty Storm
I was doing my homework. Suddenly it went dark ... I was scared. Mum got her mattress from her bed. Me, Paige and mum slept in it. Ella slept on the couch and it was noisy. Mum lit the fire so it was warm. She had a special radio. It was fun. I heard thunder and I looked at the sky light and I saw light. It was lightning. Mum lit the candles.

There are still a few portfolios at home. Can you please send them back to school as soon as possible?
